One Clear Idea Is Better Than 100 Posts

Sinan Moosa, digital marketer in Kannur

Today many people say “I do digital marketing”. They make reels, run some ads, and post daily. Anyone can learn this in a few months. But a digital marketing strategy in Kerala needs more than posting. It needs one clear reason for the customer to choose you.

I am 23 years old and I started my journey at Tag4. My first project was handling social media for Eliteweds. I made the posts, scheduled them, and replied to people who messaged or commented. Now I work at Skalee, where I manage Google search ads and social media campaigns with a remote team. I have also done Meta Ads for a restaurant in Mattool, a travel business in the UAE, and a brand in the USA.

From all this work, one thing I understood clearly: strategy comes before the post. Let me show you with two real restaurant stories from our own state.

A small note: I did not do the marketing for these restaurants. These are things I studied and noticed as a marketer. Prices and offers can change, so please check their websites for the latest.

Saudi Shawaya and the unlimited rice offer

Saudi Shawaya started in Payyanur, Kannur, and now they are in Bangalore and some more places. Website: saudishawaya.com

Their first offer was unlimited rice with shawaya and Arabic rice, for 599. Normal restaurants were not giving unlimited rice at that price, so people started talking about it.

Here is the interesting part. When they did not give unlimited rice at the same 599, hardly anyone came. Same food, same place. Only the offer was missing.

Later they slowly increased the price to 720. Did people stop coming? No. Nobody cared. Everyone was still thinking about “unlimited rice”. The offer became the brand. People forgot to check the price because they were thinking about eating as much as they want.

That is strategy. They did not just post food photos. They gave people one clear reason to go.

Nahdi Mandi and Soofi Mandi

The second story is from Kozhikode. There is a restaurant called Nahdi Mandi: nahdimandi.com

Then they opened another mandi restaurant called Soofi Mandi, within 1 km of the first one: soofimandi.com

Many people thought Soofi Mandi was a competitor, so they went there to see and try. But the owner is the same person.

Normally a new restaurant so near would take customers from the old one. Here, whichever one the customer chooses, the money stays with the same owner. Also, two names create more talk in the market. People compare them and tell their friends. That talk is free marketing.

What I learned from my own work

At Ami’s Kitchen in Mattool, Kannur, we ran the “missing burger” campaign. People really engaged with it. The best part was that we also got useful customer data for future offers and to bring customers back. We did not get that from normal food photos. It came from one different idea.

This is why I always check the numbers in Google Ads, Meta Ads, and Semrush. If a campaign gives low results, I look at what is going wrong, and most of the time the problem is the idea, not the budget.

What you can learn from this

  • A simple, clear offer is better than 100 random posts.
  • If your idea is strong, a small price change will not matter.
  • People like to talk about things that look new or different.
  • Marketing starts before the post. It starts with thinking.

Do this before you spend on ads

Ask yourself one question: why should a customer choose me and not the shop next door? If you do not have an answer, no ad can save your business. Once the answer is clear, even a small budget can give good results.
